Welcome to the Kenpo Buki Senjutsu style website. Kenpo Buki Senjutsu is derived from several martial arts to allow for growth. This is because the existing styles were limited to the instructors that taught these arts. While the original styles taught kata and self-defense techniques of how to mount an attack or defense, it also set the style of how to move and handle situations. It had the effect of making every black belt somewhat in the mold of his/her instructor.

The Japanese words that make up the style name can be defined as, “Fist Law” and “Weapons” and “Tactics.” The Kenpo Buki Senjutsu style includes, Kenpo Jiu-Jitsu Karate (Chinese, Japanese, Hawaiian, Okinawan, American) Bolognese Swordsmanship or Dardi school (Italian), Lima Lama (Samoan). I had to limit the style name to just give the overview.

From Kenpo one gets the harder system of Kung Fu, the fast breaks and locks from Japanese Jiu-Jitsu, the straight line kicks and punches of karate. From Lima Lama one gets the wrist and lay blocks and multiple finger, wrist, palm strikes. From the Dardi school one gets the medieval weaponry of war as well as defenses of such. This is all great fodder for the next level fighting and self-defense system that is more free form so each master can develop the methods that work for him or her.

This is not a beginner’s system. One must be already based in Eastern or Western martial arts to gain the foundation to transition to this fighting system. This has taken the evolution of training outside of the box to incorporate more weapons and self-defense methods for the last few years. Creating the style is just a natural progression moving from sport karate as a young man to fighting or self-defense as an older man.

I no longer practice the kata and pre-formed self-defense techniques that will have not affect my fighting. Nor do I want to practice sport karate that overall will not help my fighting skills. You see a fight (self-defense) has no rules other than the laws where the fight takes place. Deadly force typically is acceptable if you are in fear for your life and stop when your opponent/s is/are incapacitated (consult your local laws).

So welcome to the website! I’ll be blogging on various martial arts issues as well as contribute to the organization and documentation of the Kenpo Buki Senjutsu style.
